Hey everyone,
SO a couple weeks back I had the pleasure of joining my buddies Neil and Dinesh to go offroading at Lake Eildon a few hours north of Melbourne. We went on a little road trip stopped in this little town of Mansfield for lunch and a small wine tasting with local wineries and then took to the dirt roads to see what Neil's new LandCruiser was made of.

Below you can see a picture from inside what used to be the lake. As you look out you can see the water level on the hill sides and where the ricer used to be filled to. Pretty amazing stuff. I guess that this area was farmlands in teh 30s and 40s and then shortly afterwards they flooded it when the lands were emptied to the level in this picture. I'll add pictures afterwards that show you foundations of old houses and farmlands from before they flooded.

There are Neil and Dinesh over by our Chariot of mud louging. Neil had been dying to get out and use his new toy on some trails and see what it was made of. He knows what he's doing on the open terrain it was a pretty awesome little trip through dips, rocks, mud, grass, holes you name it this thing wasn't gettign caught.

Wild roos are all over the place here. They are like deer back in the state except not afraid to be seen out in the open. Tough to get much closer to them then I was at least in the wild.

After traversing the now almost completely dried up part of the lake we took to the mountain roads as you can see below and checked out Goschnick's Point probably a little better on a sunny day but what can ya do?

Anyways it was a great day trip to the country and a nice chance to escape from Melbourne to see some of the landscape and terrain that the Outback has to offer.
